Dr. Olivier Y. Cuignet is a Belgian physician specializing in anesthesiology and pain medicine, with more than 20 years of clinical experience integrating medical acupuncture into hospital-based pain management. He served as a military physician in the Belgian Armed Forces (1993–2014) and developed expertise in post-burn pain management at the Queen Astrid Military Hospital in Brussels.

Licensed in medical acupuncture since 2008, he serves as President of the Association Belge des Médecins Acupuncteurs (ABMA/BVAA), as Scientific Advisor, and as Dean of the national training program. His work focuses on the neurophysiological mechanisms of acupuncture, electroacupuncture in chronic and post-burn scar pain, and the evidence-based integration of acupuncture into modern pain medicine.

Founding member of AMAB and President of the association since its establishment in 1986.

Since 1986, he has served as Director of AMAB (Association of Acupuncturist Physicians of Bologna) and as founding member and Director of the Italo-Chinese School of Acupuncture in Bologna.

Since 1999, he has been President of the Italian Federation of Acupuncture Societies (FISA), representing most acupuncture practice in Italy, and President of the FISA School. Since 2001, he has served as Vice President of PEFOTS (Pan-European Federation of Traditional Chinese Medicine Societies). Since 2003, he has been a CME Program arbitrator for the Ministry of Health of the Italian Republic and, in the same year, served as a collaborating WHO member for the Acupuncture Research Guidelines.

She graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Bologna in 2011. In 2015, she obtained the diploma in Specific Training in General Medicine from the Emilia-Romagna Region.
